“Let me root, root, root for the NATIONALS, If they don’t win, it’s a shame …”

Washington, DC – Force Security spent our Sunday enjoying America’s favorite pass-time while commemorating all of those that served and were lost 15 years ago during the attacks of 9/11. Employees and their families got together to celebrate a successful year and a successful National’s baseball season. The Cadets of the Naval Academy stood in formation during the National Anthem followed by a fly-over of Naval F-18 Hornets. Perfect weather, hot dogs, cold beer, and good people topped off a Gio Gonzalez win. You couldn’t dream of a better way to end the Summer. We’re all looking forward to the playoffs … and maybe even a pennant run. N-A-T-S NATS NATS NATS WOOO!

Force Security Hosts a Luncheon for Property Managers Downtown

Washington, DC – Force Security was invited to host a luncheon for over 35 Property Managers in DC last week as part of a monthly lunch and learn event.  The lunch was held at Station Kitchen & Cocktails nestled amongst the historic internationally-inspired architecture of the surrounding embassy buildings. As property managers from locations all around the District began to arrive and catch up with one another, we ran into a couple familiar faces that we already service, and have a great relationship with, here at Force Security.

Ken Kocher, Force Security’s President, began his presentation with one goal: To educate. Not only about the technologies and products that Force Security offers our clients, but more importantly on the idea that technology takes a back seat to policy and procedure. What that means is: In order for the technology (The IP Cameras, The Intrusion Security Servers, Access Control Systems, etc.) that Force installs to be successful, a company must first have the proper policies and procedures in place so that they know how to handle emergency events that may occur at their buildings.

“You’d be amazed at how many property managers never think about the best practices and how to handle emergency types of situations until after an emergency has occurred … even with all that is happening in the news recently,” Ken said. “Especially here in the Nation’s Capital.” The murmur of the tables that followed these statements signified Ken’s words. It’s the unfortunate reality that business owners and property managers get wrapped up in the wrong idea of ‘I have all the right pieces’. Add that along with so many security providers who fail to properly instruct a businesses and their employees on how to implement procedures in case of an event and you get an opportunity for disaster. The beauty of having all of these property managers in one space is that they could talk and bounce experiences off of one another. How they handled it. What the result was. It was healthy for everyone to hear and learn from each other.

“We strongly encourage interaction among neighbors,” Ken answered when asked about how to be more proactive in regards to security. “It’s funny that with all of the ways we can now communicate with people all around the world so easily, so many people fail to communicate about whats happening next door to them. Having a network of local property managers just to bounce experiences off of is paramount to keeping you, your tenets, employees, and your assets safer.”

luncheonHere at Force, we offer a ‘Plan to Stay in Business Seminar’ free to all. We host a small presentation that walks through a several different possible scenarios that other businesses have experienced and how to appropriately handle them in case they take place at your facility. It’s a great opportunity to set a foundation for the policies and procedures you need at your location. It’s an integral part of how our business works to keep you in business.

Force Security Announced as Partner of the Year

Miami, FL – Mobotix, a German-based manufacturer of High Resolution IP Security Video Surveillance Cameras and Software, held their Product Innovations and Workshops Seminar this past week in Miami Florida. During the ceremonies, Force Security, a Security Systems Integrator located in the Washington D.C. Metropolitan Area, was awarded the prestigious ‘Partner of the Year’ award.  This comes after a long and symbiotic relationship with the manufacturer.

Ken Kocher, the President of Force Security, was there to receive the award amongst a few of his employees and many of his peers from all across the country who distribute and install Mobotix products. “Honestly, I’m pleasantly shocked. I didn’t know what to say. It’s an amazing honor to receive such an award. I love what everyone with Mobotix stands for and making them a part of the foundation of what we do here at Force Security only makes sense. They are a perfect fit for my business.  It is what makes us different and separates us from everyone else and it has so far been an incredible journey.  I look forward to continuing our business relationship for as long as we are in business ,” said Ken Kocher in response.

This isn’t the first time Mobotix has awarded Force Security. In 2010 Force Security received the ‘New Installer of the Year’ award. Then in 2013 they received the ‘Growth Strategy of the Year’ award. Chris Grohmann, Force Security’s technical engineer, who spends time training the customer on how to use the Mobotix Cameras and the free camera-viewing software, said, “not only are they (Mobotix) at the forefront of technology, which is why we fell in love with them in the first place, they also make it easy for us to work with and train our customers by providing the highest quality video technology available on the market today and end user-friendly software for free. It’s win/win.”

As the only Video Surveillance product Force Security offers, it’s easy to see why the two companies work so well with one another.  Both Mobotix and Force Security have a desire to provide the highest quality products and services to their customers. They know they have to go above beyond in order to stand out with our customers and to meet their security needs, especially in this modern-age with the constant threat of attack that we see every day. “Before I began my business, I was a Police Officer for a very long time.  After my career in law Enforcement I started working for a very large government contractor where I was going to these large-scale government facilities to audit their security systems,” Ken Kocher said. “I wanted to provide the same high level of security services and technology to our customers. Even higher then what I saw that the Government was doing. Why should anyone else be treated any less?  When it comes to protecting our lives and our business’ revenue, we all deserve the best of the best. Mobotix is the best of the best.”

Winter is Coming: The affects of cold weather and your security systems

Winter is Coming: The affects of cold weather and your security systems

This weekend is forecasting for another ‘blizzard’ in the DC area. The grocery stores are quickly running out of supplies and the counties are even closing down schools days early in anticipation and fear of potential inclement weather. We all know the cold can wreak havoc on your joints (mainly from shoveling your driveway 4 times) but it can also adversely affect your security systems.

winteriscoming

Luckily, all equipment that we install is rated to handle the harsh conditions. Even the cameras that we install have a device at the summit of Mt. Everest! That being said, there’s still a potential for anomalies.

Here are some steps you can take to better secure your business before this very cold weekend approaches:

  1. Cold weather causes metal to contract. Especially as we reach lows in the 10°’s and 20°’s in the coming nights. Make sure all exterior and monitored doors are closed properly before turning on your alarms in the evening. The freezing temperatures can cause the moving parts of door latches to stick in place and require a little extra ‘motivation’ to allow a door to close. We recommend applying a small amount of lithium grease to anything not sliding into place properly.
  2. Battery life can be drastically shortened because of cold weather in any wireless devices. If an odd window sensor goes off with no sign of intrusion, this could be a direct result. Don’t panic in case of accidental alarm. Just let us know as soon as possible so we can schedule a service technician to come replace it.
  3. Lastly, there’s the cold transition to hot. Just as condensation forms on a pair of glasses as you go from outside while it’s snowing to inside where it’s warm, the same thing happens within your electronics. So, especially if you monitor your system from your phone or laptop, don’t leave them in your car overnight and then move them inside. The condensation internally on those devices can cause a short and render them useless.

El Niño may have sheltered itself for a while, but brace yourself, because winter is coming.
